Norfolk, Virginia may be known for its naval base, but it is also much more than just a military town. Part of the Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Chesapeake-Portsmouth and Suffolk area, also known as the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, Norfolk is bordered to the west by the Elizabeth River and to the north by the Chesapeake Bay.
